A Model Archaeologist
£3.50 / On Sale
Leilanie Stewart's debut poetry pamphlet from London based Eyewear Publishing (2015) is a collection of 25 poems exploring the juxtaposition of working two opposite jobs: by day, a professional Field Archaeologist and by night a photographic and promotions model. The poems explore the stereotypes of both professions.
Eyewear Publishing writes: The energy and images in this intriguing debut reflect the innocence and anxieties of a student facing an unknown future through the juxtaposition of two unusually distinct paths, as an archaeologist and a glamour model. There is a subtle, veiled humour in these honest, distinctive and playfully inventive poems.
Leilanie Stewart has a BSc (hons) in Archaeology and Palaeoecology from the Queen's University of Belfast. She has worked as a Field Archaeologist, a model, an English teacher in Japan and a creative writing tutor in London. Her poems have appeared in Weyfarers, Neon Highway, The Journal, Decanto, Erbacce and Sarasvati among many other magazines.
Ken W Simpson writes: Leilanie Stewart has a unique narrative style, with an expressive vivacity and immediacy that radiates joy and a love of life. Her poems have a subtle sense of humour and at times an edge of satire that captures the naivete of youth.
